ADF receiver

The ADF receiver can be manually tuned to frequencies between 100.0 KHz and 1799.9 KHz, or preset to the international distress frequencies 500 KHz and 2182 KHz. Since the 500 KHz frequency is now obsolete and FS9 does not allow frequencies above 1799.9, the tuning mode switch has no function the simulation.

TEST TONE, VOL, TAKE CMD and the ANT setting on the ADF master switch are not used in this version.

The audio volume for NDB is controlled with the Audio panel (see below).

VOR/DME

The VOR frequency is set with a Collins tuning unit. The master switch only has two positions in this version: OFF and DME (ON). The VOL and OVRD controls are not used.

The audio volume for VOR is controlled with the Audio panel (see below).

Test switch

Toggling the TEST VOR/MB/DME switch will do the following:

  • The error flags on the RMI and HSI will be visible

  • The ADF and VOR needles are displaced 90°

  • The CDI indicator needle is centered

  • The DME counter will show 0000

  • The OMI indicator lights will light up

Audio panel

Audio volume for VOR, ADF and marker beacon signals can be set to ON (EIN) OFF (AUS), or MUTED (GEDÄMPFT). The muted setting is disabled in this simulation.

Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI)

The RMI shows the current magnetic heading and the bearing to the currently tuned VOR and ADF stations. It also shows DME distance in nautical miles.

Red error indicators are displayed if no VOR or DME signal is present, or if the instrument is powerless.

Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI)

The HSI shows the ILS glide slope and course deviation as well as the current magnetic heading. The course pointer and heading bug are set with the two knobs underneath the HSI dial.

Red error indicators are displayed if no ILS signal is present, or if the instrument is powerless.
